"Problems worthy of attack...

...prove their worth by fighting back" (Piet Hein).

Just a couple of small-fry before we get into the real headache du jour:

1. I think I mentioned previously the "poor man's" RS intake system I was employing on the 799RS - 1*98 throttle bodies with Jetprime 1*98/999RS intake adapters and Jetprime RS-copy trumpets incorporating a stand off for the injectors (1*98 has the injectors mounted in the roof of the airbox).  This is the mega-dollar 999RS system that pioneered the oval throttle bodies later employed on the next generation 848/1*98 Testastretta Evo bikes:

Luckily (financially speaking) this stuff is incredibly rare so there was no possibility of ever being drawn into temptation.  But the 1*98 TB/Jeprime arrangement isn't a million miles away and is real world affordable:

Just for a laugh, here are the OEM 1*98 throttle bodies against the OEM 851's:

All well and good with the Jeprime gubbins but it turns out the 1*98 TB's are perfectly parallel, where the Desmoquattro and Testastretta TB's are not, being slightly angled.  Which gave me an excuse to turf that heavy steel TB support in the bin, the bloody thing weighing nearly 500gm's just on it's own.  The carbon support fab'd from 2mm plate to replace it weighs just 50gm:

Obviously there is an airbox of a yet to be decided description to come.

2. After mucking around with the 749R battery panel I had a simple way forward for the 799RS: repair and repurpose the previously smashed carbon 851 Corsa battery holder.  If you recall it was last seen looking pretty sorry for itself, with a crunched reg/rec panel and a couple of crushed corners on the battery compartment:

The repair came out better than expected to be honest, and some more 2mm carbon plate with alloy bolts had a battery holder ready to mount:

I just had to turn up a couple of bobbins to act as standoffs against the mounting points (sorry, not the best pic):

And Bob's your mother's brother although the ECU is quite close to the exhaust so I can see some exhaust wrap in my future:
